Warden Guided Walks
Our Cotswold Voluntary Wardens offer guided walks across the Cotswolds National Landscape and look forward to meeting you. These walks are an interesting and sociable way of exploring the scenic Cotswold countryside and landscape.

- Most walks do not require booking, just turn up on the day at the advertised meeting location.
If booking is required, even for some free walks, you will be asked to fill out a short form on the walk page. - Dogs are unfortunately not able to be accommodated on our guided walks (except assistance dogs).
There are a number of walking with dog groups around the Cotswolds you can meet up with. - In addition to the walks below we also provide multi-stage monthly warden led guided walks for some of the longer trails including Cotswold Way and Diamond Way, for more information, click here.

All walks by the Voluntary Wardens are FREE OF CHARGE however donations are welcome and help us to take care of the countryside. You can donate online here.

A Burford Post Christmas Walk About
No Booking RequiredDifficulty: Moderate Duration: 3 hours Distance: 5 miles
Start point: Burford Main Car Park OX18 4SE
A circular walk from Burford which includes some lovely views of the winter landscape. Depending on December's weather, high walking boots or wellies may be the best footwear as mud is the norm for sections near the river. Please bring refreshments for a mid-walk pit stop.
Friday, 3rd January, 2025 – Start: 10:00 am
Shorter and Steadier 2025-1 Cleeve Common
No Booking RequiredDifficulty: Moderate Duration: 2 hours Distance: 3.5 miles
Start point: Wardens’ Wood car park (nearest postcode) GL54 4EU
The walk starts from the Wardens’ Wood car park and goes up West Down onto the main part of Cleeve Common, past the trig point at the highest point of the Cotswolds, as far as the masts.
Saturday, 4th January, 2025 – Start: 10:00 am
Around Minchinhampton Commons
No Booking RequiredDifficulty: Easy Duration: 3.0 hours Distance: 5.0 miles
Start point: Opposite the Amberley Inn, Amberley. (Please do not use Inn car park).
A bracing morning walk on upland commons to celebrate the new year. Fairly flat terrain and no stiles. Glorious views of surrounding valleys and beyond (weather permitting). Refreshments available locally after the walk, if required. Suitable for families, but not buggies or pushchairs.
Please note:
Unless otherwise indicated, all walks by the Voluntary Wardens are free of charge however donations are very much appreciated and are usually collected at the end of the walk.
PLEASE: always remember to wear appropriate footwear because some walks may be steep and muddy in places. Sorry but only assistance dogs are allowed on walks. Warden Leaders will take all reasonable care and precautions but each walker is ultimately responsible for their own safety, and for determining their capability to complete the chosen walk.
It is also advisable to check the website or call the Cotswolds Conservation Board (07841 663607) beforehand for details of any changes, particularly during bad weather.
