Nature Recovery

We are committed to nature recovery in the Cotswolds.

It’s no secret that the UK has seen a steep decline in nature over the last few hundred years. There are many reasons for this, including industrialisation, historic social influence, and a changing climate.

Helping restore the natural world helps us deal with the major challenges we all face today: biodiversity loss, climate change, and public health.

Our team is involved in a number of projects which aim to help nature recover. The jewel in our nature recovery crown is Glorious Cotswold Grasslands – a huge programme of wildflower-rich grassland restoration across the Cotswolds.

We also work with a number of partner organisations, big and small, to deliver projects across a range of conservation projects. Please visit the Big Chalk website at https://www.big-chalk.org/ to learn more about Big Chalk – a partnership made up of more than 150 organisations, including the Cotswolds National Landscape. The partnership members share a common vision of creating thriving chalk and limestone landscapes across southern England. Big Chalk performs a vital role in nature’s recovery, connecting national targets and plans with participatory modes of delivery, including regional and local partnerships and farm clusters.
