Welcome to our new website

New website homepage

We’re delighted to launch our new and improved website.

Our aim with this project was to create a more engaging, informative, and accessible website. To do this, we’ve worked with a digital design and UX consultancy, BTeam, who have a great track record working with organisations like ours.

This project has been grounded in research and data – we wanted to understand how people used and experienced the site before, as well as what they perceived to be the good and bad bits. This project has been undertaken with an understanding of our multiple audiences; and their broad range of aims, objectives, and interests when visiting the site. We’ve been through a detailed research and development phase, and an even more detailed rebuild phase.

Improvements summary

The new website has the following changes and improvements:

  1. More creative implementation of the National Landscapes brand
  2. Improved digital accessibility, wherever possible
  3. Revised structure – aiming for easier navigation and visitor experience
  4. Improved search filters for guided walks and self-guided routes
  5. Improved list or map view options for guided and self-guided route filtering
  6. New events page – to list all events: as a one-stop shop for events we’re planning/delivering/hosting
  7. Content changes – we have started drawing content out from PDFs (where they aren’t always accessible), and will continue to do this wherever we can, so information is easier to find on pages
  8. Improved cross referencing of content throughout the site – to build a more comprehensive picture of all the work we’re involved in
  9. Fully responsive on all devices

What’s next?

Projects like this rarely come to a full conclusion, so with BTeam’s help, we are continuing to work on a list of further enhancements for the website. We’re working to update our imagery as much as we can. We’re reviewing and updating as much content as we can (including historical information, and data relating to walking routes). We’re also exploring a handful of options for additional functionality to make things even better – stay tuned for updates!
