As my 60th birthday was approaching I was asked what I wanted to do to mark the occasion. I think that my wife had the idea that we might have a “holiday of a lifetime” either a cross continental journey or a tropical sunshine beach. However, I had always hankered after completing some sort of challenge and decided that I would walk the length of the Cotswold Way. My wife agreed that this would be a good thing to achieve and further agreed to provide any support that I required, the holiday of a lifetime could wait for another day. Having delayed my start by one day, due to unseasonable weather, I completed the walk in 6½ days finishing the final 7 miles on the day after my 60th Birthday.
