1. Leave the main (south) porch of the Church and cross the Market Place diagonally to Cricklade Street. Look for HSBC Bank on left and a golden bell on wall on right at entrance to the street. Follow Cricklade Street to the traffic lights at junction of Lewis Lane and Querns Lane. Turn right along Querns Lane, continue to just beyond the Zebra Crossing. At the T-junction, cross to sign opposite pointing left to the Amphitheatre.
2. Follow this sign and walk up hill and over the dual carriageway. Turn right here at another sign to Amphitheatre and follow the pavement round the corner past Boy Scout headquarters. Enter the car park on your right and then follow the path through garden by the Obelisk. Continue on this path, over a small bridge and up steps to a seating area and the Toposcope. Walk down the steps and turn right down the path into Amphitheatre. There is an information board mounted on a large stone. From this point you can explore the Second Century Roman amphitheatre.
3. Facing the information board go left and then bear right following a beaten path round, go between two wooden carvings into Querns Wood. Take the first turning left, up the steps, down steps and up steps again to pass through more carvings and onto 4Acre playing field. Cross the field diagonally to the far right corner to a black metal gate. Turn right at the road and follow the pavement past the Cemetery. Go straight on through the underpass. Then turn sharp right alongside dry stone wall on left and busy main road on right.
4. Walk down the hill to a small lodge with a metal gate on the left. Pass through the gate into Cirencester Park and follow the wide path (Windsor Walk) ahead between the trees. Follow this to the crossroads with Main Drive. Turn right here and walk to the main gates and out onto Cecily Hill. At the bottom of Cecily Hill turn left and then right into Coxwell Street. At the end turn right to follow the road to the church in the distance.
