On reaching a small quiet lane we turn west and start a gentle climb toward the ruins of Wontley Farm. Here we join a very ancient track known as the Wahlweg (Welsh Way) which leads us back to our start-point and again offers some outstanding views.
This is one of a series of shorter, steadier walks to introduce new walkers to the splendour of our glorious Cotswold landscape and the sheer joy of walking in the countryside.
Shorter walks will be at a gentler pace for those who fear that most Wardens’ Guided Walks may be a bit challenging. They will also be ideal for families (though not pushchairs, sorry) and possibly anyone wanting to regain fitness after a health setback. Children must be kept under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times.
