Walking along and beside the Cotswold escarpment through an ancient fort and a country estate.

Route description

Starting from Tormarton High Street we walk the Cotswold Way descending  to Hinton Fort with its exposed ancient strip lynchets and the site of a significant battle in 577 CE.  Passing through the village of Hinton we cross under the M4 and past the source of the River Boyd and through Dodington Chase to reach Dodington Park, the ancestral home of the Codrington family.

We return to the start point in Tormarton through the park via the Cotswold Way.

Bring refreshments for a mid morning stop and lunch.
