Bisley God ‘elp Us

A relatively easy mixed walk, mostly on good tracks, paths and lanes, beginning in Eastcombe and taking in the pastures and valleys between Bussage and Bisley, a visit to Bisley village and church and a route back following streams and wooded valleys, to end at Eastcombe close to the The Lamb public house.

Distance

6.25 miles / 10.06 km

Duration

3 to 3.5 hours

Difficulty

Moderate

Shape

Circular

Route description

The route has a couple of moderately steep sections, but they are not long and the rest of the walk is easy. There are 4 or 5 stiles and the route is on a very quiet country lane for half a mile.

We will search for the Giant’s Stone, learn about the Bisley Boy, try to stay out of the lockup by The Bear,  and discover why the villagers once had to be carried all the way to Bibury to be buried
