A Folly, picturesque Churches and a bloody Battle

A walk along footpaths north of Bath starting at Lansdown cemetery and William Beckford’s tower. Continuing to the picturesque churches in Woolley and Langridge before returning on a section of the Cotswold Way passing a trail for the Battle of Lansdown. Please bring refreshments and a packed lunch

Route description

The walk starts at the changing rooms for Lansdown Playing fields at the Lansdown Park and Ride. It proceeds by passing through Lansdown Cemetery and the neo-classical Beckford’s tower and ride.

We then descend, taking in wonderful views across the valley, to the village of Woolley and the picturesque All Saints church built by John Wood. The walk continues along the valley to Langridge and the beautiful 12th century church of St Mary Magdelene before climbing a section of the Cotswold Way, passing a trail for the Civil War Battle of Lansdown, before returning, via footpaths and the Lansdown playing fields, to the starting point.

Please bring refreshments and a packed lunch.
