Coffee Morning Walk No. 3: ‘Give the Princess a Wave’
Meet for coffee at 10 am; the walk starts at 10:30. A varied walk in the attractive Avening Valley, with views towards Nailsworth and Minchinhampton. We walk to the historic village of Avening and return via Longman's Barn and Hazel wood. Lunch available at the cafe after the walk if required.
The walk is through fields and woods – some climbs but nothing too steep. Avening Church was founded by Queen Matilda, the wife of William the Conqueror, in1080 AD. Royal connections continue with Gatcombe Park, the home of Princess Anne located nearby. Image courtesy of gloucestershirepubs.co.uk.
