The walk starts at the changing rooms for Lansdown Playing fields at the Lansdown Park and Ride. It begins by descending to the Primrose Hill nature reserve and onto a section of the Cotswold Way through Sion Hill towards the centre of Bath.

The path then takes us to the less well-known Cavendish and Lansdown Crescents  before passing through Beacon Hill and Fairfield Park. The walk returns to the start point by climbing up the Charlcombe valley stopping at the picturesque 12th century church of St Mary, on footpaths with views across the Avon Valley, up to Lansdown Cemetery and the neo-classical Beckford’s Tower and Ride before returning via the playing fields to the starting point.
